Situation

Each request type (IT, advances, small purchases…) needs different approvers.

Recommendation

Configure the chain on the request type — it is the workflow pinned to that type.

Why

The quick chain on a request type is just an editor for one workflow definition, not a second mechanism. A type with a broken trigger is blocked rather than falling back to a default route.

Steps

1. Open request type settings.
2. Define the approval steps.
3. Save (the workflow is pinned to the type).
4. Create a test request to check the route.

Avoid

• Decide directly on a request that already has a workflow instead of using the Inbox.
