Work centers
Work centers represent the machines, lines, or teams that do the work. They carry an hourly rate used for labor costing, and show which orders are currently running there.
When to use
Set up work centers before writing routings, so each operation has a place to run and a cost rate.
Before you start
- Permissions:
manufacturing:readto view,manufacturing:writeto create or edit,manufacturing:deleteto delete; settings needmanufacturing:admin. - Toggles: none.
- Pages:
/manufacturing/work-centersand/manufacturing/settings/work-centers.
Steps
Define work centers
Go to Manufacturing → Work Centers → New Work Center and set its name and hourly rate.
Use it in routings
Pick the work center on each BOM operation so work orders inherit it.
Watch running orders
Open a work center (/manufacturing/work-centers/[id]) to see the orders currently running there.
Tips & common mistakes
- The hourly rate directly drives labor cost: actual minutes times the rate.
- A work center cannot be deleted while it has confirmed or in-progress orders.
- Do not expect capacity limits; the schedule does not warn on overload.
