Share links

Share links let you hand a file to someone outside XBuddy — a client, vendor, or auditor — without giving them an account.

  1. Open a document → Share → Create Link.

  2. Choose the link’s permissions: view only or view + comment.

  3. Optionally set an expiry date — after which the link stops working automatically — and a maximum download count, after which the link is exhausted even if it hasn’t expired yet.

  4. Optionally set a password the recipient must enter before the file opens.

  5. Copy the generated link (a random, unguessable token — not the file’s internal ID) and send it however you like.

  6. Every share link is listed under the file’s Share tab, where you can see how many times it’s been opened, and revoke it at any time — revocation is immediate, even for links that haven’t expired.

Revoking a link doesn’t affect the file itself or any other links you’ve created for it — each share link is independent, so you can issue a fresh one to the same recipient after revoking an old one.
