Employee lifecycle: hire → onboard → probation → terminate

Every employee moves through the same four stages in XBuddy, and each stage updates the record automatically rather than requiring separate manual entry.

Hire

An employee record is created either directly (HR → Employees → Add Employee) or by converting an accepted job offer from Recruitment — hire date, position, department, and manager carry over automatically, and the status starts as Probation (or Active if your company has no probation period).

Onboard

Creating the employee auto-generates an onboarding checklist from your template. Tasks fan out to IT (equipment, accounts), HR (paperwork, policy acknowledgement), and the hiring manager (training plan, first 1:1). The Onboarding tab on the employee record and the onboarding dashboard both show completion status.

Probation

If the employee has a probation period, HR → Probation tracks 30/60/90-day milestones automatically and prompts the manager to confirm, extend, or end probation before each milestone passes. Confirming probation flips the employee to Active and unlocks self-service features that are gated behind confirmed employment.

Terminate

Mark an employee Resigned or Terminated from their record. This cancels their pending leave requests, revokes their Employee Service / login access, computes any unused-leave settlement for the final payroll run, and keeps the historical record for audit — nothing is deleted.
