Development plans, 1-on-1s, and feedback
When to use
Use this between formal review cycles to turn feedback into action: a development plan for each person, regular 1-on-1s with a shared agenda, and continuous feedback and pulse surveys to see how the team is doing.
Before you start
- Permissions:
performance:readandperformance:write;idp:approveto approve a plan. - Toggle
people.idp_required_after_review(default off): everyone reviewed must have an IDP for the cycle before merit pay proposals. - Toggles
people.idp_lms_suggestionsandpeople.idp_coaching_suggestions(default off, on for new companies): suggest courses and coaching programs for competency gaps. - The Training page only monitors your team’s learning; building courses and learning happens in LMS.
Build development plans
Go to Performance → Development Plan to create an IDP for each employee, then link courses from Performance → Training so growth actions are concrete.
Run structured 1-on-1s
Go to Performance → One-on-Ones for shared agendas and notes, keeping a running record between manager and report.
Collect continuous feedback
Go to Performance → Feedback for on-demand recognition and constructive feedback, and Performance → Pulse to run short engagement surveys between formal cycles.
Where things are
| Need | Page | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Development plan | Development Plan | /performance/idp |
| Team learning | Training | /performance/training |
| Manager and report meetings | One-on-Ones | /performance/one-on-ones |
| Recognition and 360 requests | 1:1s & Feedback | /performance/feedback |
| Surveys | Pulse Surveys | /performance/pulse |
1-on-1s run as a series, and the agenda can be suggested from the person’s OKRs.
Tips & common mistakes
- Create the plan from a finished review or from the competency gaps so goals are specific.
- Treat a 1-on-1 as a record: write actions into the meeting rather than elsewhere.
- Feedback entries are about people, so check the data scope before sharing results.
- Course authoring links open LMS; do not look for a builder inside Performance.
