Shipments from Sales Orders

You do not create most shipments by hand. When a Sales Order is fulfilled, Logistics creates the shipment for you and links it to the order in the document chain.

When to use

Use this page to understand where a shipment came from, why one is missing, or when you need to create a shipment manually.

Before you start

  • Permissions: logistics:write to create or edit a shipment by hand; logistics:read to view it.
  • No feature toggles apply.
  • The shipment is created with the carrier provider set to manual, because no carrier integration exists yet.

Fulfil the Sales Order

Complete the order in Sales. This triggers the automatic creation.

Find the new shipment

Open Logistics → Shipments (/logistics/shipments). The shipment starts as pending and is linked back to the Sales Order.

Fill in the details

Open the shipment (/logistics/shipments/[id]) and complete carrier and other details. Only custom fields can be edited after creation.

Create one manually if needed

If it was not created, add a shipment yourself from the Shipments list.

Tips & common mistakes

  • The same Sales Order never produces two shipments, so do not re-fulfil to retry.
  • If automatic creation fails, the system only writes a log entry and the Sales Order is not told. Check the list after fulfilling important orders.
  • Deleting a shipment requires logistics:delete.
