Situation
The company uses seasonal or casual labour.
Recommendation
Turn on Workforce Management and set seasonal/casual employment type with the contract pay_basis; outside freelancers use the individual service channel.
Why
Workforce Management is optional and off by default. Seasonal/casual contract types are kept after probation. Non-employees working on a service contract use the individual service channel with PIT withholding.
Steps
- Decide whether the worker is a seasonal employee or a contracted individual.
- Seasonal employee: turn on Workforce Management, set type and pay_basis.
- Freelancer: use an individual service contract.
- Run payroll or a payment through the matching channel.
Avoid
- Pay the same hours through both payroll and a freelancer payment.
