Requiring read acknowledgement

Know who has read a policy or procedure.

When to use

Use this when you publish a policy or procedure that people must confirm they read, and you need a record of who has and has not.

Before you start

  • Requesting acknowledgement is done on a published article at /knowledge/kb/[id]; you need kb:write.
  • Acknowledgement is tracked per publication, so each new publication can ask again.
  • Readers need kb:read to open and confirm the article.

Steps

  1. Publish the article from its editor.

  2. On the article page /knowledge/kb/[id], request read acknowledgement.

  3. Readers open the article and confirm they have read it.

  4. Return to the article to see the list of people who have and have not confirmed.

  5. Follow up with those who have not.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Request acknowledgement only on the final published version, not on drafts.
  • Republishing starts a new publication, so confirmations are tracked again.
  • Use it for policies and safety procedures, not for every article.
  • The list shows who has and has not confirmed; chase the second group.
