Situation
A job is done and issued materials are left over.
Recommendation
Return the surplus to stock via the requisition’s return-surplus action.
Why
Returns go back at the issued cost to the right source: costed materials reverse at the issue unit cost; uncosted stock on the van returns without reversing cost. Receiving and marking returned happen in one transaction.
Steps
- Open the job’s material requisition.
- Choose return surplus and enter quantity.
- Choose the receiving warehouse.
- Confirm.
Avoid
- Adjust stock by hand to bring the surplus back.
