User Types
Not everyone in your company needs the full web platform. XBuddy lets an admin shape each account along three simple dimensions.
Account type — where the user can sign in
| Account type | Can sign in to |
|---|---|
| Web (default) | The web platform (and mobile if permitted) |
| Mobile | Mobile apps only — a lighter, typically cheaper seat for field and frontline staff |
| Both | Web platform and mobile apps |
The account type is assigned by an admin and enforced at login.
Mobile persona — which mobile app
XBuddy ships two mobile apps, and each mobile user gets a persona:
- Manager — approvals, dashboards, team oversight, and management views.
- Workforce — day-to-day execution: attendance clock-in, field jobs, stock operations, sales on the go.
The persona defaults from the user’s role and can be overridden per user by an admin.
App access filter — which apps within your packs
By default a user sees every app their tenant’s packs unlock. An admin can narrow this with a per-user allowlist — e.g. a new hire in the Business Pack who should only see CRM. The filter is the intersection with your packs: it can hide apps, never add unlicensed ones.
None of these replace roles. Roles decide capabilities (what actions a user may perform); account type, persona, and the app filter only shape where and which apps they work in. See Roles & Permissions.
Where to configure
Settings → Users → [user] — account type, mobile persona, and the app access filter are all managed on the user’s detail page.
