The Payroll Assistant guards every payroll run. It checks readiness before a run, detects anomalies and cost variance, and verifies statutory compliance for PIT and social insurance so payroll goes out correct and on time.

What it does
Payroll Assistant runs pre-flight and post-flight checks around each payroll cycle. Before a run it confirms readiness; during and after it flags anomalies, tracks cost variance against prior periods, and watches overtime and salary-band drift.
On compliance, it checks personal income tax calculations and reconciles social-insurance (BHXH) figures so filings match the payroll register.
Findings are proposed as Suggestions for human approval — the Assistant does not finalize or post payroll on its own.

Actions appear in the Suggestions queue with Approve / Dismiss controls. Examples:
- Flag payroll anomaly for review before the run is finalized.
- Flag BHXH reconciliation gap where filing and register diverge.
- Flag salary-band drift for an employee paid outside band.
